Overview of the Public Service workstream

How well do government agencies perform in protecting and advancing the public interest? Or do they aid vested interests? This workstream examines the public service, focusing on integrity issues, cronyism and capture by vested interests. It will highlight poor procurement, wastage, and the role of agencies in properly regulating business and society.

Outputs scheduled:

• Each year we will publish a report investigating the previous 12 months of political appointments.

• We will publish a watchdog report each year on how the Ministry of Regulation is helping or harming the public interest and vested interests.

• We will publish an annual report on public sector procurement – with a special focus on the use of consultants and contractors.
