Government investigations
Overview of the Government investigations workstream
Scrutiny of government decision-making and transparency will be carried out in this workstream, focusing on who gets access, who benefits, and who is ignored in the policymaking process.
We will focus on the question of “who has the ear of government?”, with attention to the published ministerial diaries, evaluating the transparency of the government, and looking at who is benefitting from the government of the day.
Scheduled investigations:
1. “Who has the ear of Ministers?”: An annual report on what the Ministerial Diaries published over the last year show
2. "Reforming the Ministerial Diaries system" - report on how the Government's declarations of ministerial calendar entries could be done better
3. “Winners and losers from the last year of Government” - Annual Policy-Beneficiaries Report
4. “Poor decisions in government”: Annual report on decisions made against independent expert evidence and official advice
