Seymour's claim that NZ's restrictions on advertising of pharmaceuticals is "out of step with other countries" is wrong. The reverse is true. Only two high income countries permit direct advertising of prescription drugs - USA and NZ. https://theconversation.com/most-high-income-countries-ban-direct-advertising-of-prescription-drugs-why-does-nz-still-allow-it-231688 Seymour's argument that advertising restrictions hinder the holding of medical conferences here is also untrue! Conferences take years to organize and 49 medical conferences will be held in NZ between now and the end of the year. These cannot be attributed to any recent change to advertising regulations. https://www.allconferencealert.com/new-zealand/medicine-conference.html
